PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH CONVENTIONAL EARPLUGS

Custom ear protectors are made to fit the user’s ear after an ear impression has been taken. Different types of vents and attenuators can be included within this custom mould depending upon the user’s needs and environment. This approach has several advantages:

1.	Specific filters and vents can be included in the earplugs to allow the user to continue to hear speech, music or machinery at lower volumes while continuing to wear the earplugs.
2.	Earplugs are made with a longer canal that will reduce the sense of being in a barrel or underwater.
3.	There is no need to remove these earplugs during the course of the day.
4.	These earplugs can be used daily for several years and can be washed in warm, soapy water. In the long run, therefore, custom earplugs are more hygienic and cost-effective.
